About FLAG.
FLAG is a small user-led charity, which aims to combat social isolation for disabled adults living in the Bedford Borough area. It is run by a Committee of five disabled adults and an Events Coordinator.
We have around 40 members who are all disabled adults with a physical or learning disability and/or a sensory impairment, their carers, friends or volunteers.
Our members are generally on low incomes and the extra costs incurred towards an outing can prove prohibitive.

FLAG Thursday Afternoons.
FLAG members can come along to our free weekly afternoons at Priory Methodist Church where we provide tea/coffee and cake and biscuits. We do crafts, chat, play bingo, do quizzes and board games and enjoy musical or animal experiences and virtual reality.
We have a Committee meeting once every 6/7 weeks where we sort out and discuss the events, activities and admin of FLAG.

FLAG Volunteers.
At present we have 6 able-bodied volunteers who help with non-personal support at events and Thursday afternoons, such as getting teas and coffees, pushing wheelchairs and getting a drink from the bar.
Volunteer drivers who can spare the odd afternoon or evening to drive a member to and from an event are 'gold dust' to us. We can never have enough.
All volunteers fill out an Application, are DBS checked and given any relevant training. Volunteers receive any 'out of pocket expenses'. FLAG pays for their meals and tickets at events.
